Born in Ukraine in 1984, Alexander Romanovsky moved to Italy at the age of thirteen, where he studied at the Piano Academy of Imola with Leonid Margarius. At the age of seventeen he won the First Prize at the Busoni Competition in Bolzano. In 2009 he obtained the Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music in London. His concert activity in recent years includes: debuts with numerous orchestras including City of Birmingham, Royal Philharmonic, National Philharmonic of Russia, Tokyo Metropolitan and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna; recitals at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow; concert tours in Italy and Japan. He is guest of the most prestigious stages in the world, from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to La Scala in Milan, Parco della musica in Rome, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Moscow Conservatory, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile. Romanovsky performs regularly with the major orchestras, including the British Royal Philharmonic, English Chamber, Hallé and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, in Italy with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the Filarmonica della Scala; with the orchestra of the Teatro Mariinskij and the Russian National Orchestra, with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, with the New York Philharmonic al Bravo! Festival Vail and the Chicago Symphony at the Ravinia Festival; collaborates with conductors such as Vladimir Spivakov, Valery Gergiev, Mikhail Pletnev, Sir Antonio Pappano, Gianandrea Noseda, James Conlon, Krzysztof Urbanski and Diego Matheuz. In 2007 he performed at the Pontifical Palace of Castel Gandolfo, in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI, on the occasion of the 110th Anniversary of the birth of Pope Paul VI. He has released Glazunov's Concerts for Warner and five critically acclaimed albums for Decca: Beethoven, Variazioni Diabelli, Brahms / Schumann, Rachmaninov, Ètudes-Tableaux op. 39 and Variazioni Corelli, Rachmaninov, Russian Faust and, more recently, Childhood Memories by different authors. Recent years have seen him extend his activity to support the promotion of young talents and classical music in collaboration with important bodies such as the Accademia Musicale Chigiana. Since 2014 Alexander Romanovsky holds the position of artistic director of the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition.
